Hey everyone! I've finally reached a point in my life where I can invest in building my dream PC, after years of gaming on laptops. I've never done a build before, but I've been doing my homework with videos and some help from ChatGPT. I'm hoping to create a setup that's great for both gaming and work—mainly browser-based tasks, so no heavy coding or video editing. I want it to last about 4-5 years and be able to run demanding games like Cyberpunk, RDR2, and Hell Let Loose on high/ultra settings. I'm also considering that I might want to dabble with local AI models in the future.
I'm trying to keep the PC as quiet as possible and want to avoid flashy RGB lighting, which is why I chose Noctua components. Here's what I've come up with for my build:
- **Case:** Fractal North XL (black) with a walnut and mesh design, using Noctua fans and capping them at ~1000 RPM for quiet operation.
- **CPU:** Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- **Motherboard:** X870 with Wi-Fi 7 (Gigabyte X870 GAMING X / AORUS ELITE WIFI7).
- **RAM:** 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 (EXPO).
- **Storage:** 2TB 990 PRO (with plans to add more later).
- **Cooler:** Noctua NH-D15 chromax.
- **PSU:** Corsair RM1000x SHIFT (ATX 3.1) with native 12V-2×6 cable.
- **GPU:** RTX 5080 16GB.
- **Monitor:** BENQ Mobiuz EX321UX (I prefer Mini LED to OLED for longevity and performance, despite the higher price).

You might want to reconsider that X870 motherboard. In some cases, it doesn't perform as well for gaming as a B850 board. Plus, the RTX 5080 isn't really worth it—there's only a slight improvement over the 5070 Ti, yet it costs significantly more. Swapping to the 5070 Ti could save you some cash without sacrificing performance.
If you're looking for quieter operation, liquid cooling could be an option, but high-quality fans can be surprisingly quiet too. As for the motherboard choice, I'd ask what features or future upgrades you’re hoping for. And about the monitor, do you really want to spend a lot on the BENQ? There might be budget-friendly options that still deliver good quality. What are your must-haves in a monitor?
I want a motherboard that supports good future upgrades, which is why I chose the X870. But the B850 sounds appealing given its price. For cooling, I'm a bit hesitant about liquid cooling due to leakage risks; high-quality fans seem easier to manage for me. As for the monitor, I’m focused on color accuracy and HDR performance. I prefer premium products for longevity and a better experience. The BENQ checks those boxes, but if you have other recommendations for a 32-inch Mini-LED monitor, I’m all ears!

Good point! I just checked out the 5070 Ti, and it looks like it can be overclocked close to the 5080's performance. Plus, it’s cheaper in my area, so I'm definitely leaning towards switching to that and the B850 motherboard. Thanks for the advice!
