What Specs Should I Look for in a New PC for Video Editing and Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to build my own PC since I used to game on my brother's machine. I've found a site where I can choose different components, but I'm totally lost when it comes to specs. I mainly need this PC for editing heavy videos with a lot of VFX and for gaming—games like League of Legends, CS2, and Fortnite are my go-tos, but I'd also like to play something like GTAV. My budget is around $1,000, but I'm flexible if needed. Any suggestions on the best specifications? I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

With a budget of $1,000, you can get a decent setup. It’s all about balancing your needs. If you're doing heavy video editing and gaming, I'd recommend looking for an Intel i7 or Ryzen 7 processor, at least 16GB of RAM, and a good graphics card like the RTX 3060 or even an AMD equivalent, depending on what's available. Just keep in mind that prices can fluctuate!

That sounds like a solid plan! You might also want to check for sales or refurbished parts, they can save you some cash and still give you great performance.

Honestly, I think you might want to increase your budget a bit if you want something really reliable, especially for video editing. If you can stretch it to $1,200 or so, you could include a better GPU and faster storage, like an SSD, which will help a lot with both gaming and editing.

You've got the right idea, but just a heads up, be careful about compatibility between parts! Make sure your motherboard supports your CPU choice and has enough slots for RAM. Consider using PCPartPicker to compare different builds and prices; it’s super handy!
