Hey everyone! I haven't bought a PC since the original release of Oblivion, and now I'm ready to dive back in. I'm planning to use it primarily for gaming, with a focus on VR, especially Skyrim VR. I've done quite a bit of research and put together a build that I think looks solid, but I could really use your expert opinions on it. I want to ensure I'm not missing anything crucial or wasting money on unnecessary components.
I'm ordering a custom build from PCSpecialist, so my options might be somewhat limited, but I can make adjustments if needed. Here's what I'm considering:
* **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9800X3D (I've read that even though it's not the latest model, it's one of the best for gaming.)
* **GPU:** Nvidia RTX 5080 (I know there are mixed reviews about the 50 series, but it's the best I can get without going for a 4090 or 5090, which are out of my budget.)
* **RAM:** 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 (I wonder if this might be overkill?)
* **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite (I don't know much about motherboards, but this one seems okay.)
* **Power Supply:** Corsair 1000W RMX (I upgraded from 850W, but I'm not sure if that's too much or just right.)
* **Cooling:** PCS Frostflow 200 for the processor, along with some budget fans in the case (Cooling is my weakest area, so I need advice here.)
I'd really appreciate any feedback—whether you can give me some reassurance or point out any potential issues. Thanks in advance!

You've got a solid setup! While some might argue that 64GB of RAM is excessive now, I see it becoming more common as games demand more memory. So you're on the right track there. Just be aware of your budget, as high-end builds can add up quickly!
The AMD 9800X3D is actually one of the latest AMD CPUs and should give you excellent gaming performance! As for the RAM, while 32GB is usually sufficient for gaming right now, getting 64GB might be a smart choice for future-proofing, especially as some requirements start showing 16GB as a minimum. Your motherboard looks good for that build, and it's definitely a high-end setup, so just be prepared for that price tag!
Looks like a great build overall! Just a quick note on cooling: you mentioned the PCS Frostflow 200, which should work fine, but you might want to keep an eye on temperatures during intense gaming sessions. It's worth making sure your airflow within the case is optimized with those extra fans you mentioned!
I appreciate the heads up! Cooling is something I'm not too familiar with, so I’ll make sure to check temperatures. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks! I'm glad to hear the CPU is a solid choice. My budget is just under £2500, but it seems like it's creeping up! I just hope it lasts a few years.
