Is my GTX 980 Ti good enough for 1080p streaming?

I have a Sabertooth X79 motherboard paired with a GTX 980 Ti GPU and a 300 Mbps internet connection. Lately, I've been experiencing freezing issues when trying to stream HD (1080p) content online. I suspect that my GPU might be limiting me to only 720p, which could explain the problems. Do you think this is accurate? If so, what's the most budget-friendly 1080p graphics card I could get? I'm primarily using this build as an entertainment PC with dual screens, so gaming performance isn't a priority for me.

Nah, the GTX 980 Ti is more than fine for 1080p. Streaming HD video should be seamless. Since you mentioned having freezing issues in Chrome, it might be worth checking your browser settings or trying a different one to eliminate that variable.

Your GPU isn't the issue here. The GTX 980 Ti is definitely capable of handling 1080p streaming without any problems. The freezing you’re experiencing could be due to something else, like browser issues. Have you tried troubleshooting Chrome or switching to a different browser to see if that helps? Streaming 1080p video shouldn’t be a problem at all with your setup.

I doubt your GPU is the bottleneck. The 980 Ti was a beast when it came out and can easily handle multiple 1080p streams. It would help to know which specific apps or services you're encountering freezing with. Are you streaming through Chrome? Sometimes, it’s just a matter of the browser and not the hardware. Also, keep your drivers updated!
