Hey everyone, I just ordered a 5090 graphics card and I'm wondering if my current processor, the I7 10700K, will cause any bottlenecking. I'm starting to think this upgrade might lead to a much bigger expense for me down the road...

Yeah, you'll be facing bottlenecks even at 4K, if you're gaming. It's time for a CPU upgrade, buddy.

Yes, your I7 10700K will likely bottleneck the 5090, especially at high refresh rates, and even at 4K in many games. It's going to limit the full potential of your new GPU, but it’s definitely an upgrade over your current card.

Thanks! I'm using a 3090 right now.

If you're gaming at 4K, the bottleneck might be less noticeable. But overall, an upgrade is in your future! Also, make sure your power supply is up to the task.

Just a heads up, that Seasonic X-1050 is a good power supply. But keep in mind that you'll bottleneck your performance, especially when playing on lower settings.

Honestly, you'd have been better off getting a 5080 along with a CPU upgrade instead of just opting for the 5090 with your current setup.

You’re probably right, I might need to consider a full build soon!

It depends on how you're using your setup. What resolution and refresh rate is your monitor?

I'm running 3840x1600 at 144Hz.
