Is My iPhone 17 Pro Max Battery Life Normal or Do I Need to Return It?

I recently moved everything from my old iPhone 11 Pro Max to a new iPhone 17 Pro Max, but I've noticed that the battery life isn't great and the phone tends to overheat while charging. For instance, instead of the expected 1-5% battery usage per hour during regular scrolling, I'm seeing a drop of about 9% per hour. Is this typical, or should I consider returning it to the store? Has anyone else run into similar problems?

I’m noticing the same thing with my iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I switched from a 13 Pro. Not sure if this is a software issue or just something that needs fixing, but I feel your pain!

Just chill! You’ve only had the phone for a day. It’s pretty common for new iPhones to take a little time to optimize performance after setup. Give it a few days to settle in; it should improve as it updates in the background and manages app processes better.

Exactly, I went through the same thing with mine when I first got it! Just let it do its thing.

Yeah, I had similar concerns when upgrading. It’s like every new iPhone stirs up some temporary battery issues. Just wait it out; it usually sorts itself after a bit.

Totally! I’ve been through this with past models too.
