Is My Laptop Fast Enough for Work Tasks?

I recently bought an HP laptop with an Intel Celeron processor (2.36GB, 4GB RAM, 1.10 GHz) mainly for online classes. Now I'm trying to use it for work with an external monitor, running programs like Excel and QuickBooks online. I've noticed QuickBooks lags quite a bit, especially when I'm switching tabs or opening new applications. I never had any issues before, but I wasn't using QuickBooks during my classes. I'm only working with basic functions, no huge spreadsheets or anything complex. I'm wondering if my laptop is the problem or if I need to invest in a desktop. We previously had one, but it was running Windows 7 and wouldn't work with Windows 11. Any advice would really help!

If you're mainly using QuickBooks online through Chrome, you might run into problems due to Chrome being a major RAM hog. It might be worth checking your Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) to see if your memory is maxed out. If that's the case, upgrading your RAM could really help boost your laptop's performance!

Thanks for the tip! Quick question, does RAM have to be installed physically, or can it be upgraded in some other way?

Your laptop's components are pretty old, which could definitely be contributing to the lag. If you’re looking for better performance, I’d recommend getting a new laptop or desktop. Something with at least a 10th gen i3 or i5 would be a solid choice!

I just bought this laptop in December, so it’s a bit frustrating to think about replacing it already!
