Is My Laptop Good for Trying Out Linux?

I'm primarily a Windows user and I'm thinking about stepping out of my comfort zone to try Linux. I want to know if it's true that Linux can run on almost any hardware. I'm considering purchasing a used "burner" laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Will it have a good chance of running Linux smoothly?

Yes, there's a high chance it will run smoothly! 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD are more than enough for a good Linux experience.

Sounds like a great laptop choice! With 8GB of RAM and a decent processor, you should have a smooth Linux experience. Just grab a USB stick and start experimenting. You'll have fun with it!

That's a fantastic idea! I did something similar when I first switched to Linux over 20 years ago. I bought a budget laptop, and it turned out to be a great decision. Right now, I'm using a 2013 i5 laptop with 8GB of RAM, and it runs just fine. Just make sure the processor is decent—like an i5. If it is, you should be all set for a smooth experience. Enjoy your Linux journey!

You're good to go with that setup! 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD should handle Linux without any issues.
