Is my Leadex Superflower 850W PSU dead?

Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC and ran into a bit of trouble with my Leadex Superflower 850W PSU. I received it on the 13th and while assembling everything yesterday, I couldn't get the PSU to turn on during the pre-installation boot. I tried different power outlets, consulted the manual (which wasn't super helpful), let it sit powered on for a while, used a surge protector, and even switched out the power cable, but nothing worked. I'm returning the PSU today and planning to grab a Corsair RXM80 850W instead. If anyone has suggestions for good PSUs or any troubleshooting tips I might've missed, I'd love to hear them! Here are my specs: GPU: MSI 4060, CPU: Ryzen 7 7700x, RAM: Flare DDR5, Motherboard: Gigabyte B650, Case: NZXT H5 Flow.

It's not uncommon for PSUs to arrive DOA, so don't feel bad about it! Make sure you toggle the PSU ON/OFF switch just in case. If you have integrated graphics on your CPU, try booting without the GPU installed. Also, if you're comfortable, you could try setting it up outside the case with just the essentials connected to rule out case shorts!

Thanks for the tips! I actually tried the paperclip test, and it worked—looks like my PSU is indeed dead.

Have you tried the paperclip test to see if the PSU is actually functioning? It's a simple way to check if it's dead or if something might have gone wrong during your build, like incorrect connections. Definitely worth a shot before you return it!

I haven't done that yet, but I'm planning to try it before heading back home! I was worried about damaging my motherboard since I didn’t plug anything into it.
