Hey everyone! I recently upgraded from a 13700K to a new 14900KF with an Asrock Z790 PG Lightning motherboard and the latest BIOS. After I installed the new CPU, my system powers on for just a split second before shutting down completely. I've reseated the CPU a couple of times but the problem keeps happening. As soon as I put my old 13700K back in, my PC powers up without any issues. Could my new 14900KF be dead? I also tried resetting the CMOS, but that didn't help either.

It sounds like it might be a thermal shutdown issue. Did you make sure the thermal paste spread out properly when you installed the new CPU? Sometimes if it’s not applied evenly, the CPU can overheat almost instantly and shut down.
Also, make sure that the CPU is seated properly in the socket. It’s easy to miss one of the corners getting locked in. If everything seems fine but it still doesn’t work, it could be worth checking for any bent pins on the CPU or socket too.
