Is my new Intel Arc B580 GPU performing correctly at x8?

I recently upgraded my graphics card and noticed that GPU-Z is reporting it as running at PCI Express x8. I've reseated the card and it's currently the only PCI card installed in my system. Despite running a game and checking GPU-Z, it still shows the x8 configuration. The BIOS does indicate PCI x16. I'm wondering if there's an issue with my GPU, my motherboard, or if GPU-Z might just be misreporting it. I took some pictures from my phone which I plan to upload. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t stress too much! x8 is what your Intel Arc B580 is designed for, and it should perform well. Your motherboard and CPU support PCIe 4.0, so it’s not a loss at all. I think you made a solid choice with your card!

If you checked the specs, you’d find that the Intel Arc B580 is specified to run at PCIe 4.0 x8. It’s not a sign of a faulty card; that’s simply how it’s designed to operate. Some users are finding that x8 is becoming more common in certain mid-range cards.

It might be related to the motherboard and the M.2 slots you're using. Some motherboards drop the GPU slot to x8 if certain M.2 slots are populated because they share bandwidth. If you could share the model of your motherboard, that would help us figure this out. Also, if your GPU is a part of the 50 series, it’s normal for it to run fine at PCIe 5 x8. In my case, I'm using a similar setup and have found no issues with my performance at x8.

What model GPU are you using? Many of the newer 60-class GPUs are designed to operate at x8, so it might just be working as intended. If you have the Intel Arc B580, that card uses x8 lanes, which is standard for its design. So, you may not have anything to worry about!

I’d definitely check how many drives you’re using. If you have multiple M.2 or SATA SSDs, it could easily be affecting your GPU’s lane allocation. For your processor and motherboard, it’s all configured to support PCIe 4.0, so you shouldn’t have any issues with performance. The B580 is intended for x8 usage.
