I'm planning to do a fresh build after not upgrading for about seven years. Recently, I moved from 1080p to 1440p gaming and I want to start from scratch, using my old system as a spare or giving it to family. I'm located in the UK, and here's the list of parts I've picked out so far:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - £447
- **CPU Cooler:** ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB - £84.95
- **Motherboard:** MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI - £149
- **Memory:** Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB DDR5-6000 - £98.99
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB NVME SSD - £258
- **Video Card:** Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - £889
- **Case:** Fractal Design North XL - £159.84
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM850x (2024) 850 W Fully Modular - £138.99
Total: £2225.77. What do you think?

Your build looks solid overall, but I think your motherboard might be a bit too cheap compared to the rest of your components. You might want to invest in a better one that has PCIe 5, more USB-C ports, and enhanced VRM for better power delivery. It could make a significant difference in performance and future-proofing your setup!

Thanks for the insight! I’m not too familiar with motherboards. Do you have any specific recommendations on which one to consider?

I'd suggest going for CL30 RAM instead—it can give you better performance. Also, consider a B650 Tomahawk or a similar board; those generally have better thermals and connectivity compared to what you picked.
