Is My Old Build Bottlenecking My New GPU?

I recently upgraded to a 5080 GPU and installed it in my existing setup. However, I've noticed that the performance improvements aren't as significant as I expected compared to my previous 3060. Could this underwhelming performance be due to my older hardware?

Even a 10700K can bottleneck cards like the 3080 at 1440p. You'd be looking at upgrading to something like a 7600 or 9600X. If your budget allows, the 7800X3D or 9800X3D would really maximize your performance.

Yeah, it sounds like your CPU is definitely bottlenecking the 5080. The Ryzen 5 3600 is great for mid-range cards like the 3060, but the 5080 needs something faster to really shine. Upgrading to a 5800X3D or going for a newer platform could make a big difference. Also, make sure you're gaming at higher resolutions so your GPU can stretch its legs! I have the same CPU and an MSI 5080. If you want more than 140 fps at 1440p, your CPU is holding you back. I've noticed that I can achieve nearly similar performance at 1440p as I do at 4K in some games at high settings. I'm planning to wait for the specs of GTA 6 or the next-gen Zen 6 before making an upgrade.
