Hey everyone! I'm trying to put together a spare PC for my mom using an old Asrock B150M-HDS motherboard that I have lying around. I installed all the components, but when I hit the power button, nothing happened. I initially thought it might be the case cables or misplaced pins, so I connected the ones from my current case, and it powered on. However, it seemed stuck in a boot loop, where the fans would slow down and then start up again. I didn't catch it quickly enough and turned it off, but when I tried again later, it wouldn't turn on at all. This motherboard was my first build, and I had it running fine a few years ago. Now I'm wondering if the motherboard is shot. I did replace the power supply after initially having issues, and the new one seems to work since the GPU lights up. Has anyone experienced something similar, or do you think the motherboard is gone?

What CPU are you using with that motherboard? Sometimes incompatibilities can cause boot issues. If the CPU’s not seated properly, or if it’s not supported by the motherboard, that could be the problem.
For a budget build for your mom, have you considered getting a mini PC instead? They're super compact and usually come at a great value. Check out some options online!
I actually keep changing parts to use the ones I have lying around to save money. I'm just trying to make this old setup work!

I'm using an i5 6600. This motherboard was part of my old setup that worked fine back in 2019 before I upgraded everything.
