Is My PC Build Good for Gaming?

I've been using an old PC for the past six years with a 1660 Super, and it's not cutting it anymore. I'm looking to build a new one and want to make sure the components I picked are good and compatible. Here's what I've got:

- **Graphics Card:** ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7 OC
- **Processor:** AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (8-Core, 5.2 GHz)
- **Motherboard:** MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 ATX
- **Power Supply:** CORSAIR RM1000x, Fully Modular (1000 Watts)
- **RAM:** CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5 6000
- **Storage:** SAMSUNG 990 EVO PLUS SSD 1TB
- **Cooler:** CORSAIR NAUTILUS 360 RS Liquid CPU Cooler

I'm looking for some advice on whether these parts are overkill, and if they will work together. What do you think?

What you have here is a powerhouse build! However, the RTX 5090 is quite expensive right now, and unless you're into hardcore gaming or AI tasks, it might be overkill. Also, that motherboard might not be necessary unless you plan on doing heavy workloads. What kind of games are you planning to play? If it's mainly Minecraft and some other titles, you could save a lot by scaling down your GPU and getting a cheaper motherboard.

Definitely! For just gaming, you might find you don’t need that level of power. Maybe consider something like a 4080 or even 4070 Ti, they’re still very strong.

You might want to think twice about the total cost. Spending this much on a build depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you're just gaming casually, this build could be way over what you need! Clarity on your gaming setup—like monitor resolution and refresh rate—would help in determining what specs are realistic. Also, I would not go with just a single PSU for a build with that GPU—those can draw a lot of power!

I agree with you! For a 5090, consider going with dual PSUs for safety. It's better than risking instability.

This is an impressive setup, no doubt! Just make sure your power supply can handle everything—some PSUs are rated higher than 1000W, which you might need. Also, if you're looking to future-proof, 128GB of RAM could be worth considering. However, the CPU upgrade to a 9950X3D might be something to look into if you're serious about performance. But what’s the main purpose of this PC? That'll help narrow down the recommendations.
