Is My PC in Danger After Overheating While I Sleep?

I've noticed that my PC seems to be overheating overnight while I'm asleep. I usually leave it on to download games or updates, and I've even turned off the sleep and hibernate options. Yet, when I wake up and try to use it, the screen is blank even though the PC seems powered on with the lights still showing. I'm worried that this could damage my system. Any ideas on why this is happening?

It sounds like your PC might not be waking up properly. If you really aren't using it while you sleep, there's a chance it hasn't overheated. Even if it did, most modern CPUs will throttle down to prevent damage instead of just crashing. Try disabling sleep in your Windows settings for a couple of nights (you can still set the screen to turn off). Let me know if the issue continues!

You should definitely check your temperatures. If it's around 75 degrees for a Ryzen 7600 when you turn it back on, that's a little high. Normally, it should be closer to 45-50 degrees while idling. Keeping an eye on those numbers can help you pinpoint any overheating issues.

Yeah, that sounds about right after checking. I’ll monitor the temps better!

When a PC gets too hot, it goes through thermal throttling to protect itself by slowing down. If it can't manage the heat, it'll shut down completely. So, if your signal drops, it could just be shutting down instead of overheating. Just make sure your cooling system is working as it should!

Sometimes I run into issues where I have to unplug and replug the HDMI after leaving my PC on overnight. It could just be a connection issue if you're not getting a signal in the morning!

Good point! I usually forget about simple fixes like that.
