I recently upgraded my graphics card and added a few old hard drives from my previous computer. Now I'm curious if my power supply wattage is safe or if I should consider upgrading to a better one. According to PCPartPicker, I'm using 488 watts out of a 650 watt PSU, which makes me feel like I'm nearing the limit. I primarily game at 1080p with a high refresh rate of 240hz and also do some coding for fun. Just to clarify, my setup includes an Intel i7-10700K CPU with a 32 GB RAM and I'm upgrading from a 2060 to a 4070 Super.

I would suggest looking at your power supply’s age and efficiency ratings. If it's older or has a lower rating, it might struggle with the new load, so it's worth upgrading to a stronger PSU for piece of mind. Better to be safe than sorry!
It sounds like your old PSU might be a bit unreliable for your new setup. Since you're pushing nearly 488 watts with a 650 watt PSU, I'd recommend seriously thinking about getting a new one to ensure stability, especially when gaming or under heavy load.
I agree. Having a solid power supply really helps with overall system performance. Brands like Corsair or EVGA are usually pretty reliable.

Definitely worth the investment, especially if you're gaming and coding. You don’t want your system crashing during intense sessions!
