Is my PSU in trouble after a piece of duct tape fell in?

I accidentally dropped a small piece of duct tape into my power supply unit (PSU). I can't see it because it's white, and I don't hear anything moving when I shake it. What should I do? Will it be okay?

Edit: I found it wedged between some parts and was able to carefully get it out with a cable tie without touching anything else.

I'm not sure I’d risk it. Some types of duct tape can be conductive based on their material. But if you found and removed it, you might just want to give it a go but keep an eye on it.

It's probably not a big deal. Duct tape isn’t conductive, so as long as it’s not snagging on the fan or anything, you should be okay.

Honestly, just fire it up and see what happens. You’ll have to live with the risk that it could cause a problem, but if you got the tape out, it might be fine.

You might be better off being safe than sorry. If you're super worried about it potentially causing a short, just consider replacing the PSU instead.
