Is My Ryzen 7 9800X3D Overheating?

Hey everyone! I'm having some trouble with my Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I'm using a DeepCool Assassin IV cooler, and I'm noticing that my CPU temperature sits around 55-60°C when I'm just on the desktop with nothing much going on. However, when I'm playing games that aren't super demanding, the temperature spikes to about 85-95°C. Is this normal, or should I be concerned about something? I applied thermal paste in an X shape, so I'm unsure if that's contributing to the issue.

Applying thermal paste in an X shape is fine, but if your cooler isn’t seated evenly, it could still cause overheating. Just ensure everything’s tight and check those airflow settings!

Your temps definitely shouldn't hit 95°C. That’s the thermal throttle limit, so it’s likely that the cooler wasn’t installed correctly or maybe you missed peeling a protective sticker off the bottom.

I checked, and there’s no sticker on the bottom; I peeled that off!

Make sure your case has good airflow, especially around the CPU cooler. Check your CPU fan to see if it’s functioning well, and if you can, post a pic of how the cooler is installed.
