I recently got a Lenovo X9 Aura Edition laptop that's powered by a Core Ultra 7 258v processor and has 32GB of RAM, with an Intel Arc shared graphics chip. While it performs well for most tasks, I noticed during Google Meet video calls, especially when I'm sharing my screen, that my video can become pretty choppy. My internet connection is solid, with a hardwired gigabit connection showing 700+ Mbps download speeds. Given all this, could the absence of a dedicated video card be causing the choppiness in my video calls, especially when I have other processes running in the background?

You generally shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just for Google Meet or other browser-based video chats. Have you tried different browsers or tested other video conferencing platforms like Zoom or Teams? Also, it could help to check your performance metrics in Task Manager while on a call—are your CPU or RAM hitting high usage? Also, it might be worth seeing if anyone else with an Intel Arc chip has had this issue on Google Meet.

I agree that Google Meet can be quite the resource hog compared to other services. I've experienced lag too on my MacBook M1 Pro, but I don’t usually have issues with my Dell Precision which has a dedicated GPU. I definitely recommend keeping an eye on Task Manager to see how it performs while you’re sharing your screen.
