I'm considering OpenSUSE Leap or Tumbleweed for my Acer laptop, which has a hybrid Nvidia Intel GPU (MX 330 2GB and an i5 10th gen). Can anyone share whether this setup runs smoothly and if OpenSUSE is a good choice for someone new to Linux?

Honestly, OpenSUSE can be a good fit for beginners, but it might require a bit more involvement compared to other distros like Mint, which is often recommended. You'll likely need to use the terminal to set up things like codecs and Nvidia drivers, but it's not too daunting once you get the hang of it.
Not really. The resources are there to help you out!
Is it really that much harder than other distros?
