Hey everyone! I'm trying to run games on Pop!_OS, but I've hit a wall with the base Proton. I came across Proton GE, which is a third-party version, and I'm a bit anxious about trying it out. Can anyone tell me if there's a risk of it being malware or a virus? Thanks for your help!

Proton GE is safe to use! It was created by Glorious Eggroll, who also supports the Nobara project. Since it's open source, you can check out the code on GitHub or GitLab. Even if you can't read the code yourself, others in the community look it over and share their thoughts on its safety.
