Is screen artifacting a concern with my new GPU?

I recently got an RX 9070 XT and have been experiencing some weird screen artifacting whenever I alt-tab out of games like Overwatch. It only happens for a second, then it goes away, but I'm worried it might indicate a problem with the GPU. Should I be concerned, and what steps can I take to troubleshoot this?

That shouldn't be happening! Have you tried reseating the GPU? First, make sure it's securely fitted in the PCIe slot. If that doesn't help, try a different PCIe slot or check your monitor connection and cable. Testing with another monitor might also reveal if it's a screen issue. If all else fails, borrow another GPU to see if the problem persists. If the replacement doesn't show artifacts, then your 9070 XT might be the culprit.

A quick flicker when alt-tabbing isn't unusual—it could just be driver issues or switching out of fullscreen mode. If it's only for a second and doesn't happen during gameplay, it’s usually not a major concern.

Seeing artifacts can sometimes point to failing VRAM, especially with a new GPU. If it's brand new, consider getting it RMA'd. If it's second-hand, reach out to the seller to discuss the issue and explore return options.

Do you have HDR enabled? I ran into similar problems after I got a new monitor and had HDR on while alt-tabbing. Turning it off fixed the issues for me.
