Is Server 2025 Still Having Issues?

I'm about to set up a new Active Directory domain with essential services like AD, DHCP, DNS, and a fileserver. Last time I checked, a few months ago, Server 2025 was facing some issues, and I want to know if those problems persist. We do have the option for volume licensing with downgrade rights to 2022, but I'm leaning towards starting with 2025 if it's stable enough. So, is Server 2025 still a mess?

Most new releases have some teething problems, but we’ve been using Server 2025 without any serious issues—just the usual Windows quirks. I’d say go ahead and dive in!

Same here! No drama on my end.

I’ve also been testing 2025 in a lab, and while there were concerns earlier in the year, I've had a smooth experience.

I’ve been running Server 2025 in production for months with zero problems. Maybe I’m just lucky, but it’s been a smooth ride for us!

Honestly, I’d recommend staying away from Server 2025 for now. I recently tried upgrading a small setup and hit a wall with replication issues and constant DNS errors. Just reverted back to 2022 and it's been stable. I'm playing it safe until they fix these bugs.

From what I've seen, those DNSCACHE errors were due to build mismatches between DC versions. Once we upgraded all to 2025, the errors went away.

Yeah, that 2019 DC you ran into was probably out of support, which might explain the issues.

Stick to 2022 unless you feel adventurous. Your production environment deserves stability over cutting-edge chaos!

But how long has 2025 even been out? Any major updates yet?

You might want to just stick with 2022 for now. My experience with 2025 has been fraught with bugs, especially in earlier builds. I suggest waiting for the next version to iron out the issues.

Can you share any specific bugs you've come across?

We're avoiding 2025 for now. Plans are to wait until 2028 comes around before considering an upgrade. Better safe than sorry!

I see what you mean! I’d prefer to stick with something stable like 2022.
