Hey everyone! I'm looking to transition from Windows 10 to EndeavourOS with KDE, and I have a few questions about making the switch. My current setup is a bit old, but it's still running well enough for my needs. Just to give you an idea, I have an MSI A68HM-E33 V2 motherboard, an AMD A8-7600 R7 processor, a GTX 1050Ti for graphics, and 16GB of DDR3 RAM. I've also got two SSDs. I'm curious if these specs are suitable for running Linux smoothly.
I'm a non-online gamer with a mostly indie, single-player Steam library, and ProtonDB suggests most of my games should work fine on Linux. However, I'm worried about a few things: 1) Is my choice of EndeavourOS a good one? 2) Should I dual boot or will it be safe even with Windows on the other SSD? 3) How will EndeavourOS handle my existing game files on the NTFS drives? 4) Do I need to install anything additional beyond KDE? 5) What common Windows features should I look for alternatives to in Linux? Any tips for this transition would be greatly appreciated!

Your specs should be fine for running Linux. If it can handle Windows 10, it can handle any Linux desktop environment without issues. As for EndeavourOS, it's Arch-based, so it can be a bit challenging for newcomers. If you're up for a bit of DIY and enjoy solving problems, it's a good choice! Otherwise, consider something more user-friendly like Fedora or Zorin OS. I recommend booting into the EndeavourOS installer without installing it yet. This way you can test your hardware and see if everything works before making any changes. Just make sure to back up your data first!
Your setup looks good for Linux! However, I'd suggest avoiding Arch-based distros for a first timer. They can be tricky to manage. You might want to try Linux Mint or another Ubuntu-based distro for a smoother experience. As for your game files, Linux can read NTFS just fine, so you don't need to worry about transferring files right away. Take your time adjusting to the new system before switching completely!

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm leaning more towards Mint for now while I get the hang of things. Cheers!
