I'm about to get my brother's PC, which will cost around $200. The plan is to pair it with an R7 5700x3D. I'm curious if the 2080 Super will still be good enough for 1080p gaming at 144Hz, especially since I play a lot of competitive games like Fortnite, Valorant, CS, and Rocket League, as well as AAA titles like Detroit: Become Human and Red Dead Redemption 2. Can I expect to run these games on high settings without issues?

Definitely! The 2080 Super is still a solid choice for 1080p gaming. You should be able to get good frame rates, especially in competitive games. Just keep your graphics settings in check, and you should be all set!
Honestly, I think the 2080 Super might not hold up as well in a few years. It’s decent now but could struggle with future titles pushing for more power.
I don't think it will meet your needs at all.
What makes you say that?
You might hit some hiccups with AAA games if you try to push the texture settings too high. But honestly, at 1080p, the differences in texture quality aren't super noticeable unless you're really looking for them. Most modern games are still playable, and if you're mainly focused on esports and occasional AAA titles, you should be fine!
Haha, I haven't even heard of some new releases like Alan Wake 2! I'm just into casual esports and hanging out with friends. I'm not hardcore about settings—just want to enjoy games like RDR2 at decent graphics without lag. Also, the current rig struggles when multitasking, but I hope the new one won't. Just need something that runs well without being a hassle.
If 12GB cards are considered necessary, why isn’t 10GB a viable option? I believe GPU makers should consider a middle-ground with something like 10GB to handle high-res textures better, rather than pushing 12GB on all cards.
Sounds great! As long as I can hit 144+ FPS, I'm happy!
