I'm in the process of building my new PC and can't decide between the 5070 Ti and the 5080. My goal is to play at 1440p, but I'm not sure if spending an additional $500 to $600 on the 5080 is actually worth it. If you're really looking into overclocking, you can get the 5070 Ti to perform nearly on par with the 5080 under ideal conditions. For the price difference, I think the 5070 Ti is the smarter choice unless you specifically need that extra power for 4K.
For 1440p, I'd say the 5070 Ti is more than sufficient. The 5080 really shines at 4k, and even there, the price-to-performance ratio isn't great. Unless you're planning on doing some serious path tracing or gaming at 4k, I’d recommend getting the 5070 Ti instead.
