I'm building a new gaming PC and I'm considering using the AMD 7800X3D processor. I'll be using it for gaming at 4K resolution and also for SketchUp 3D modeling and rendering. My full setup includes a 5070 Ti, an OLED 4K monitor, and 32GB of RAM. I got the 7800X3D for only $225 and it seems like a good choice, but I'm second-guessing whether I should get a different CPU in the $300 range for my gaming and rendering needs. I previously worked with an i7 8700K and a 1070 Ti, which was manageable for SketchUp, but I wonder if I'm overthinking my decision with this new build, considering the potential upgrade in performance.

The 7800X3D will serve you well. It’s a great fit for your needs, and you’ll enjoy the performance!
I have the same 5070 Ti, and I haven’t experienced any bottlenecking with the 7800X3D. It should work perfectly for your setup!
Thank you for the reassurance!
While it's not the very top CPU available, it's a huge upgrade from your 8700K. For $225, it's a fantastic buy. Don't stress too much about it; if it doesn't meet your needs later, you can always upgrade. Just try it out first!
Thanks! I really tend to overthink these things, but I agree, I can always upgrade later.
You're definitely overthinking it! SketchUp mainly relies on single-core performance, and the 7800X3D excels there. It’s also a top-notch CPU for gaming, way better than your old i7 8700K. At just $225, you got a great deal! Pair it with your 5070 Ti, and you'll be future-proof for 4K gaming too. Just stick with it!
Awesome, thank you! I feel much better about this decision.

Thanks! I'm really excited to try it out.
