I'm considering getting the 7600X for my build. I don't mind if the CPU runs hot or noisy, and I think the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120FE cooler would handle it well. But I'm wondering if it's really worth it to spend an extra £20 for the 9600X instead.

The 9600X is newer and generally maintains better temperatures compared to the 7600X, even if the difference is slight. So if you're looking for a little more stability, it might just be worth it. Plus, you have that cooler, so I think both CPUs should manage their temps fine!
I just decided to go with the 9600X! Paying an extra £20 for better stability seemed reasonable.
For just £20 more, I would definitely go with the 9600X. It's a small investment for potentially better performance and reliability in the long run.
What makes you say that? Just curious if there's a specific advantage you're considering.
I ended up getting the 9600X after all, just for that bit of extra stability!
Go for the 9600X! I have the 7600X, and even with a 240mm AIO cooler, it hits the upper 80s. The 9600X might save you from those high temps, and I’d have preferred it if I'd known how hot the 7600X would run. Just a heads up!
What about bottlenecking with my 2080S? Is that a concern? Can it handle upper 80C consistently?
After considering it all, I decided on the 9600X for that slight extra stability.

Do you think the Peerless Assassin 120 FE will keep both in check? I'm wondering if I should prioritize one over the other now.
