Hey everyone! I'm putting together a new PC with a 5070 TI graphics card and I'm wondering if the 9800x3d processor is a solid choice for it. I live near a Microcenter and they have a tempting bundle with the 9950x. I'm planning to game at 1440p and might also do some web development. I'm considering the 7800x3d bundle too, but I'd miss out on those extra cores from the 9950x. What do you all think?

For gaming with the x3d, the performance boost is minimal, especially if you're primarily at 1440p. At that resolution, you might find yourself more GPU-bound than CPU-bound, so the x3d might not be worth it. If you're leaning towards the 9950x, it may be for reasons beyond just gaming—like multitasking or certain productivity needs.
That’s what I’ve seen too! The 9950x offers more cores for tasks like running Docker containers, which could be really helpful.
