Is the 9800x3d worth the extra price for my first PC build?

Hey folks! I'm putting together my first PC and I'm considering which CPU to pair with my PNY OC 5070ti. I can snag a 7800x3d for about $370 or go for the 9800x3d at $480. Do you think the 9800x3d is worth that extra $110? Also, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with motherboard options—any suggestions would be super appreciated. Thanks a ton!

Both CPUs are priced pretty well, but honestly, the extra $110 for the 9800x3d might not be the best investment. The performance gain is minimal—like only 5-10% in some games—so the 7800x3d is definitely the more cost-effective choice while still offering great performance.

I recommend going with the 7800x3d. It gives you almost the same performance as the 9800x3d for a lot less. Plus, most games rely on the GPU more, so your 5070ti should complement it nicely. If you're not in a rush, you could buy a lower-tier CPU now and wait for prices to drop on the 9800x3d later. Just keep in mind, many players this year will be using that 7800x3d and 5070ti combo!

Thanks for your feedback! Do you have any thoughts on whether I should pick MSI's x670e or Gigabyte's x870 for the motherboard?
