Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a 7800 XT and I've found a used AMD 5800X3D for $300 CAD. I'm wondering if this is a good upgrade or if I should consider other options. What do you think? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I recently did the same upgrade from a 3600 to a 5700X3D, and it's been great. $300 CAD is a bit high, but if it's functioning well, it should serve you well for some time, especially since you can skip the whole AM5 upgrade mess!

Yeah, I was considering the same move, and it sounds like a reliable option.

But you might want to look into selling your current parts to fund a full upgrade with the 7600.

I've got both a 5800X3D and a 5700X3D in different setups, and they still hold up well for gaming. However, $300 CAD feels a bit steep since you can get a new Ryzen 5 7600 for around $250 CAD. If you find the 5700X3D for a better price, that might be a smarter choice. But if this 5800X3D helps you avoid a motherboard and RAM upgrade, it's not a terrible deal either!

Yeah, I'm also skipping AM5. If the 5700X3D is cheaper, I'd definitely go for that!

Good points! But the 5700X3D is tricky to find at a lower price right now.

I’d say go for it if you're gaming at 1440p or 4K. The 5800X3D performs really well and the $300 CAD price isn't bad if everything is in good condition!

GameGuru23 -

That’s true! I moved from a 3700X to a 5800X3D and felt a significant performance boost.

But which games are we talking about? Performance can vary a lot depending on what you're playing.

It really depends on how much cheaper you can get a 5700X3D or even consider going for a new setup with the Ryzen 5 7600. Those options could save you some money while giving a decent performance upgrade.

RavenScavenger -

I agree. A new setup can be pricey, but if you get a good deal, it might be the way to go!

PriceHunter -

Exactly! The 5700X3D isn't necessarily cheaper at the moment.

So, how does the 5700X3D stack up against the 5800X3D? Would it be worth it to just stick with my current setup longer?

ProGamerX -

Great question! The difference is minimal; the 5800X3D is slightly faster but often at a higher price, so it boils down to whether the price difference is justifiable for you.

I found the 5700X3D at about $400 CAD on Amazon. If you can get the 5800X3D for $300 CAD, it seems like a decent deal!
