Is the Asrock B850i Motherboard Safe for 9800X3D?

I'm in the process of building a new PC and snagged a fantastic deal on an Asrock B850i motherboard. However, I'm a bit concerned about whether it's safe to pair it with a 9800X3D processor. I've come across some scary stories regarding CPUs failing on Asrock boards. Would undervolting the CPU mitigate any potential risks? I'd appreciate any tips or insights!

From what I've heard, most issues have been resolved with the latest BIOS updates. However, I'm leaning towards saving some cash and going with the 7800X3D instead, just for peace of mind.

Does anyone have solid evidence that the newest BIOS truly fixed the problems? I've been keeping tabs on this, and it seems like it's been a 'fixed' issue multiple times already.

ASRock has had a rough time with AM5 CPUs overall. You hear about the 9800X3D more often because it's the most bought AM5 CPU by novice builders, but honestly, neither CPU is guaranteed safe. Undervolting might not make a difference. What kind of deal did you get? Is it really worth risking your CPU?

That sounds really scary! Definitely not worth risking any hardware!

I've read different takes on this. While ASRock had higher failure rates, overall, the number of dead AM5 CPUs isn’t as huge as it seems. BIOS updates have fixed a lot too.

Just remember, there's probably a reason the Asrock B850i is so cheap. Many new buyers are avoiding Asrock for now due to past issues. Is it really worth the risk for that discount?
