Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to upgrade my whole PC this November or December, but I've been a bit anxious about the 12vhpwr/12v2x6 connector situation. I'm thinking about going with the Seasonic TX1600 ATX 3.1 power supply. However, I'm worried that the issue is actually with the cable itself. That's why I'm considering the Astral 5090; it seems like it could give me peace of mind with its monitoring software. I'm curious though— is the connector issue something that can be resolved with undervolting, or is it a legit concern? Also, I've noticed the Astral is super hard to get ahold of when it's in stock. Should I grab one whenever it's available, even if I won't be building my setup until later, or should I wait? I usually prefer to buy everything all at once, but this is the only part I'm worried about missing out on. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Undervolting the 5090 can really help— it's free to do and even the cheaper models can benefit from it. It’s a great way to cut down the chances of the connector or wires overheating. However, honestly, I think the Astral is overpriced for what it is. If you’re mainly gaming, the RTX 5080 is a solid alternative— less expensive and handles 4k gaming without as many worries, even without undervolting.

Thanks for the info! I do game but also do film editing, so I think the extra VRAM of the 5090 could really help with my processing times. Plus, it sounds like undervolting might just be the ticket to keep the heat down!
