I'm in the process of building a new PC and I've come across some concerns about using Asus motherboards with the 9800X3D CPU. I heard that Asus boards might cause issues, but I'm wondering if this is still a problem today. I'm specifically looking at the B850 TUF Plus, but I'm also considering the MSI B850 Gaming Plus as a potentially safer option. What's the consensus?

Honestly, I don't have a great opinion of Asus due to their previous quality issues. I've had a non-Asus build that worked perfectly fine. It seems like the MSI board might be a safer bet because they’re often priced lower for similar features.

Asus has had some past issues with the 7800X3Ds, but as for the 9800X3Ds, they seem to have sorted things out now. I recently picked up the Asus TUF B850-M for my build, and it’s been running great. Just remember, ASRock is the one with the bigger issues right now.

Honestly, I’d think twice before going for an Asus product based on some past customer horror stories. It might be better to go with MSI. They're generally well-regarded without the headaches.

If you're looking for an affordable choice, the MSI would work perfectly well. Most of the features are aligned with Asus boards, and for the price, you won’t miss much if anything at all.

I've been using my 9800X3D with an Asus board for almost a year now, and it's been totally stable no issues at all. From what I've seen, it's mainly ASRock boards that have been problematic for these CPUs, not Asus.
