Is the battery health of my 5-year-old iPhone 11 Pro bad and how can I prevent further deterioration?

I've been using my iPhone 11 Pro for nearly five years, and aside from last year, I've consistently kept its battery level at 70% or higher throughout the day. Recently, I've noticed a drop in battery health, and I want to know if this is normal for its age. What can I do to lessen the deterioration of my battery?

I think to really assess if your battery is bad, you need to share its current health percentage. After five years, if it’s still around 80%, it’s not in bad shape. If it dips lower, your options are either replacing the battery or the phone itself.

Ah, I neglected to share the battery health! Sorry about that.

Having 80% battery capacity after five years is actually impressive! Given its age, your battery seems to be doing great. Just make sure to monitor the health regularly and consider a replacement if it drops significantly.

Yeah, a few months ago it was at 87%, and recently it dropped a lot, which is why I asked!

Honestly, if the battery is deteriorating, your best bet is to replace it, which could cost you around £85. Considering you've taken good care of it, its performance is pretty decent.

To minimize battery deterioration, keep charging it when possible, but be careful with constantly keeping it at 100%—that can actually wear it down faster. Stick to a regular charge cycle and try to avoid letting it drop too low regularly.

That sounds a bit counterintuitive! How does keeping it at 100% cause more wear?
