Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my power supply from my old Gamemax vp600, which I've had for about 6-7 years. Lately, I've noticed some weird white horizontal stripes on my screen. My setup runs an RTX 5060, and so far I've stress tested it with Furmark, Aida, and some Heaven benchmarks without any issues, but I can't shake the feeling that the PSU might be supplying unstable power. I think the issue likely stems from my aging Gamemax. I'm looking at the Be Quiet Pure Power 12 550W as a replacement. I see that the recommended PSU for the RTX 5060 is also 550W, but does that mean it might wear out faster than a higher wattage unit like 600W or 650W? Should I spend more for a higher capacity PSU to avoid potential problems in the future?

Honestly, a 550W PSU should be more than enough for your setup, especially with the newer, low-power GPUs. My PC runs on a 350W PSU and I have an RTX 5060 paired with a Ryzen 5600, and it’s doing fine!
It's not about just the wattage but the quality of the PSU. Those screen issues you're seeing might not be from the power supply at all; they could be signs your GPU is starting to fail. Don't overlook that possibility!

Got it! By the way, have you been overclocking your GPU at all?
