Hey folks! I'm curious whether the i9 11900KF is a solid processor choice for pairing with an RTX 3080. If it is, would an 850W power supply be sufficient to support this setup?

I’ve been running an OC'd 10900K with a 3080, and while 850W might technically work, I'd advise going for a 1000W PSU instead. The 3080 can have some serious power spikes, especially under load, which can lead to unexpected shutdowns. I learned this the hard way while gaming. I upgraded after having issues and haven’t looked back since!
Both the i9 11900KF and RTX 3080 are compatible with each other without any issues. If you're not already committed to a CPU, consider something like a 12900K or 13600K, as those would perform even better. But if you go with the 11900KF, an 850W PSU should work just fine, as long as it’s a well-rated model.
Just ensure your power supply is from a reputable brand and was manufactured after 2021, and you should be solid with an 850W. Those parts shouldn't give you trouble together!
If you don’t already have the 11900KF, I wouldn’t recommend getting it. It's a bit overpriced now and there are better options available, like the 12th gen Intel chips or Ryzen 7000/9000 series. But if you're set on your setup, an 850W power supply should support it well enough.
Honestly, I’ve had no problem using a 650W PSU even with my 3080 since 2020 with a 10900K. Just make sure everything is rated well!

Pretty much what I was thinking! The 11900KF is a decent chip but not the best value right now.
