I'm considering the Intel Core i5 Ultra 235 for 1440p gaming and planning to pair it with a 5070 GPU. Does anyone have thoughts or experiences with this setup? Is the CPU suitable for gaming at this resolution?

It really depends on the price point. The Core Ultra line isn’t typically a top recommendation due to its pricing issues. If you can grab it for a good deal, it might be worth considering, but the value often isn't there compared to other options.
For gaming, this CPU isn’t the best choice; it’s relatively slow. Most reviewers aren't recommending it for gaming performance. If you're looking primarily for gaming, an AMD option like the Ryzen would be a better investment, especially with the AM5 platform's longevity.
While the i5 Ultra 235 might serve for gaming, it generally doesn't justify its price. Plus, considering there won't be newer CPUs to upgrade to after, I’d look elsewhere. There are better affordable options out there!
For gaming, the Ryzen 5 7600 is a solid choice and generally enough for most gamers. In fact, if you're focused on gaming performance, spending more on a better GPU is a smart move. Pairing a Ryzen 5 7600 with a 5070Ti will likely outperform a lower-tier setup like an older Intel i5 with the same GPU.
Last time I checked reviews, the i5 Ultra 235 didn't impress in gaming compared to the previous generation i5 14600k. Unless you find it at an exceptional price, I wouldn't recommend it since it doesn’t deliver an upgrade over last gen.
Yeah, I’ve seen benchmarks showing that AMD CPUs are better in most gaming scenarios right now.
