Is the RTX 4060 Worth $320 for Gaming and Video Editing?

I'm building a new PC and considering the RTX 4060, but I'm a bit hesitant because the price is around **$320** in my country, which seems high compared to other places. I mainly play modern games and aim for smooth performance at 1080p/1440p. Additionally, I do some video editing, mostly for gaming content and YouTube, rather than anything as intensive as 8K. Is the 4060 still a decent choice for both gaming and video editing at this price, or should I wait and save for something better? I'd appreciate insights, especially from others facing similar price hikes. Thanks!

For gaming, the RTX 4060 is a solid choice at that price. Ignore the noise about needing more VRAM—some people just want to rationalize their expensive GPU choices. If you're just doing 1080p, you should be good for a while.

If you're focusing on 1080p gaming, I'd suggest looking into a used 3060 Ti instead. It generally outperforms the 4060 for what you're doing, and while you'll probably need to lower some settings for 1440p, it's a solid card. Plus, for 1440p gaming, you're going to want at least 12GB VRAM for smoother performance with modern titles.

Absolutely, if you can find a good deal on a 3060 Ti, go for it! It's definitely a better option than the 4060.

I disagree about the VRAM; 8GB is still sufficient for most games at 1440p if you adjust your settings.

I wouldn't recommend anything with just 8GB VRAM right now—it's just not future-proof enough. If you stick to your budget constraints, be realistic about lowering game settings. Adjusting your expectations could help you enjoy gaming more without overspending.

Exactly! If you're limited to around $320, sometimes you just have to roll with it and adapt your settings!

What CPU are you pairing with the RTX 4060? Intel’s newer cards, like the B580, could also serve well for video editing. Just make sure your CPU is powerful enough, especially for CPU-heavy games.

You might want to hold off for the 5060 if you can—it's expected to deliver significantly better performance. Otherwise, if you want something immediately, the 5070 could be a good fit, but it might stretch your budget.

That’s true, but is the 5070 going to be way pricier than the 4060? The 4060 already pushes my budget.
