I recently sold my Radeon RX 7900 XTX and have about €800 from that sale to put toward a new graphics card. I'm choosing between the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Windforce SFF for around €1,145 and the RTX 5080 Gaming OC for about €1,445. I want strong performance and good stability without constant crashes or thermal issues. Both cards seem appealing, but is the Gaming OC likely to offer a meaningful performance, cooling, or reliability advantage over the Windforce, or would I just be paying €300 for a minor improvement? I'm also open to doing some manual overclocking.

I’d go with the €1,145 Windforce. Reviews suggest its temperatures and performance are very close to the Gaming OC, so the more expensive model doesn’t seem to justify the extra €300. Put the difference toward another component or keep it in reserve.
The two cards use the same RTX 5080 GPU, so real-world performance should be almost identical. The Gaming OC may have a slightly higher factory boost and possibly a better cooler, but you’re probably looking at only a tiny frame-rate difference. If you plan to overclock manually, the cheaper card makes even more sense.
Unless the Gaming OC offers a specific feature you need—such as noticeably quieter fans, a larger cooler, or a better warranty—the Windforce is the better value. Both should deliver essentially the same gaming performance, and stability depends more on the rest of the system, drivers, power delivery, and cooling than on the factory model name.
That makes sense. I’ll likely choose the Windforce and use the savings elsewhere since the performance difference appears negligible.
That matches what I was thinking. A gain of just a few frames per second wouldn’t be worth spending another €300, especially if the Windforce has comparable temperatures.
