Is the RX 9070 XT worth €150 more than the RX 9070 at 1440p?

Both cards would be a major upgrade over an RX 6700 XT. For competitive games and 60+ FPS at 1440p ultra, the RX 9070 should be more than capable. You might see something like the low 70s versus the high 70s in comparable workloads, so the XT is mostly paying for extra headroom rather than a completely different experience.

At 1440p, the RX 9070 XT is generally only around 10–15% faster than the RX 9070, while costing about 20% more in your case. That usually makes the non-XT the better value, especially if €150 could go toward another component. The XT makes more sense if you are targeting a specific frame rate, using an ultrawide display, or planning to move to 4K.

An 850W unit is a sensible choice for the XT, while the RX 9070 gives you lower power draw and less heat for nearly the same 1440p experience. I’d choose the non-XT unless the price difference drops closer to €50–€75 or you specifically want the maximum performance.

For your stated target, I’d put the €150 toward the rest of the build and get the RX 9070. The XT is worthwhile when the price gap is small or when you need every extra frame, but at €150 the standard card offers stronger value.

Since you’re building around a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, you’ll have a strong enough CPU to make good use of either card. That is very different from pairing the GPUs with the older Ryzen 5 5600, which could bottleneck them in some high-FPS competitive games. With the new CPU, choose based on whether the extra performance is worth €150 to you rather than worrying about a major CPU limitation.
