I'm upgrading my fiancé's gaming PC and trying out some build options. Currently, we have an RTX 2070 paired with a Ryzen 4500. I'm contemplating whether the Ryzen 4500 is sufficient to handle the 5070 at 1440p ultrawide or if I should opt for a 5060ti 8GB along with a secondhand Ryzen 5600x. If anyone has experience with running a high-end GPU with a lower-end CPU at higher resolutions, I'd love to hear your thoughts. We're mainly playing esports titles and Call of Duty, but there are some single-player games on the list too. Thanks for any help!

Honestly, go with the second option! The 5600X is a solid choice, and it could help you avoid bottlenecking.
Using a Ryzen 4500 with a 5070 could work, but be prepared for some bottlenecking issues. Also, keep in mind that while the 5060ti with 8GB can manage 1080p, 1440p performance might not be consistent across all games.
If you're gaming at high refresh rates in esports, a low-end CPU like the Ryzen 4500 might hold you back. The 5600X should perform decently, but if you find a good deal on a used GPU, that might be worth it to save some cash as well!
