I'm considering upgrading from my Ryzen 5 5600 because it's bottlenecking my RTX 3080 at 1080p, and I'm trying to decide between the Ryzen 7 5800 and 5800X. I've read that the 5800X tends to run hotter. With modern techniques like undervolting and using budget coolers, will the thermals be manageable in 2025? I'm not planning to overclock; I just want solid performance for gaming and productivity. My current setup includes an ASRock B450M Steel Legend motherboard with 32GB DDR4 RAM and a decent cooling solution, the Deepcool AG400 Plus. Do you think this cooler will suffice for the 5800X, or should I invest in something better, like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin? Also, will the non-X 5800 still be able to handle my RTX 3080 effectively in today's games? Any experiences or advice from those who've used either CPU would be really appreciated!

Honestly, if you already have a Ryzen 5 5600, the 5800X isn't going to offer you a significant upgrade, especially for gaming. The performance between them is pretty close, so unless you can find the 5800X at a killer deal, it might not be worth it. You'd be better off holding out for a platform upgrade to AM5 if you're looking for a real leap forward.

That's good to know! I've noticed my GPU usage is high while my CPU struggles. Do you think the 5800 would still bottleneck the 3080?
