I came across a Ryzen 7 5800X3D priced at $190 and I'm not sure if I should go for it. Is this a solid choice for my new build?

That really depends on your current setup! If you already have the AM4 platform and the necessary RAM, it’s a great upgrade that can extend the lifespan of your PC. But if you're building everything new, it might not save you much since even a basic Ryzen 7000 series CPU can keep up with the 5800X3D. Also, the AM5 platform will be supported for longer, while AM4 is nearing the end of its road.

But have you checked RAM prices? DDR5 costs about $100 more than DDR4, and AM4 is still a solid option.

It's pretty unlikely that deal is legit, considering used 5800X3Ds are generally selling for over $400 in the US. If it is real, then definitely grab it! The 5800X3D is a fantastic CPU and you could either use it for a while or potentially sell it for a profit later.
