I'm considering an upgrade to the AMD Ryzen 9700X from the 7700X but I'm torn on whether it's worth the extra $50. The 9700X has a lower TDP of 65 watts and a slight performance edge, but I'm budget-conscious as a college student. I'm getting most of my components from Microcenter, and here's my build for reference: I'm not worried about my GPU as I've already got an RTX 2080 Ti, and I primarily play esports titles on a 1080p monitor. Given my circumstances, should I go for the 9700X or stick with the 7700X?

If you're looking to save money, you might want to skip both the 9700X and 7700X altogether and just go for the regular 7700. It's a 65W chip, performs similarly, and is cheaper. Plus, it comes with a decent cooler, saving you even more cash! Check TechPowerUp for performance comparisons if you need further details.

That makes sense, but I can't get the 7700 through a Microcenter bundle. It actually ends up being pricier with the same mobo and RAM.
