Hey everyone! I've heard that I shouldn't skimp on my power supply unit (PSU) for my build. I'm considering the Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 850W 80+ Gold, but is it really a bad choice? I'd like to know what potential issues there might be with this PSU. Also, how can I check if it has the correct connector for an RTX 5070? Here's my full build for reference: [pcpartpicker](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sK9cjn).

I get that $100 isn’t necessarily being cheap, but you can find better-reviewed PSUs for similar prices. Make sure it’s ATX 3.1 compliant if you're looking for the right connector for the 5070!
The GF1 used to be rated well, but there have been updates that’ve changed its components. It's crucial to be cautious with the 2024 version since it’s made with cheaper parts.
I wouldn't recommend the GF1 because it was known to switch out components for cheaper parts after initial testing. Maybe consider options like the Pure Power M 12, XPG Core Reactor II (not the VE version), or the Thermaltake GF3. They're generally better quality and often around the same price.
Thanks for suggesting alternatives! Do you know if these include the proper connectors for a 5070?
I think the Toughpower models have mixed reviews. While they’ve been reliable for some, they can be loud and fail easily in areas with unstable power. If you can, I’d suggest investing in alternatives like BeQuiet or Enermax, which offer better durability.
Honestly, the GF1 has great protection features, and in most cases, you'll probably have no issues with it. A lot of people get caught up with PSU tier lists and feel they need the top-rated models when the GF1 is likely to serve you well over time.
What do you think about the Vetroo 850W? Heard it's a solid choice too.
