Hey everyone! I'm a multimedia enthusiast managing a variety of files like screenshots, documents, downloads, and videos. I'm wondering if there's a Linux file manager that can match the functionality of Windows, particularly the way it remembers per-folder sorting and view settings. I love how Windows keeps my preferences for each folder in terms of icon type, zoom level, and sorting. I've tried a few options like Nautilus, PCmanfm, Dolphin, and Thunar, but none seem to cover all the bases. Nemo gets close, but it's very slow at loading thumbnails. Any advice or alternatives would be super helpful!

Just a tip, whenever you post about technical issues, always include your distro details and any hardware specs. It really helps folks to provide useful suggestions!
What exactly is missing in Dolphin for you? It lets you set different settings for each folder, and you can customize the toolbar to make switching views really quick. Have you looked into those features yet?
Icon zoom is the issue for me. When I zoom in or out with Ctrl+scroll, it changes the size for all folders. The zoom feature isn't folder-specific.
I think there’s usually a separate package needed for thumbnail display in different distros. It might depend on ffmpeg too. I remember running into that issue without thumbnails in Dolphin by default.
