Is There a Way to Increase Keyboard Delay on Windows 11?

I recently got a new laptop, and after using my old one for nearly a decade, I've noticed that the keyboard response time is much faster now. When I'm gaming, the immediate response can be a bit jarring, and I'm actually looking to add a slight delay between pressing a key and it registering. I couldn't find anything online about how to do this, only instructions on how to decrease latency. Can anyone help me figure out how to manually increase the keyboard response delay?

You could also try locking your FPS to a lower rate, like 30. This can create a feeling of lag which might help mimic the delay you're looking for. It’s a clever workaround you might want to explore!

Good idea! I never thought about FPS locking—could be worth a shot!

Honestly, it’s pretty rare to hear someone wanting to add delay! Normally, everyone is eager to make things faster. If you just wait a bit, you might adjust to the new keyboard speed before long. But I get it—if you've been playing a game for years, those slight timing differences can feel huge! Just give it time.

Yeah, I get that too! When you've been used to a certain setup for so long, it's hard to adapt. But I’m sure you’ll find your groove.

You could try using an AHK (AutoHotkey) script to add some delay, but remember, AHK is usually blocked in online games due to anti-cheat measures. For single-player stuff, it should work fine! Once I get a script tested, I can share it.

That sounds interesting! I've heard of AHK, but I'm not really familiar with scripting. Is it tough to set up?
