Is there a way to unlock a disabled iPhone 5s without losing data?

I'm in a tough spot and could really use some help. My sister recently passed away and while going through her stuff, I found her old iPhone 5s. It shows a message saying, "iPhone is disabled. Connect to iTunes." I suspect she forgot the password and got locked out. When I try to use iTunes to fix it, it says the phone will update and factory reset, which means losing all the data. This isn't an option for us because there are countless family photos and precious memories on there. Is there any way to unlock this iPhone without wiping its data? Thanks for any insights!

I'm really sorry to hear about your sister. Unfortunately, there's really no way to unlock the iPhone without wiping the data unless it was previously backed up. If she had an Apple account, you might check that to see if any photos were saved there.

She unfortunately doesn’t have a backup. Thank you for the answer.

Nope, there’s really no option to unlock it without wiping the data. If she had iCloud enabled, her photos might be stored there. Maybe check to see if you can recover her Apple ID info? It could help.

Thank you, but she didn’t have iCloud set up either.

Sadly, you can't unlock it if it's disabled without doing a full reset. Unless there was a backup or you have her account information, there's not much you can do. I wish there was a better answer for you.
